About

When it comes to designing a home that feels like a natural extension of its surroundings, local insight is irreplaceable. Dean McCredden is dedicated to the creation of functional and beautiful buildings that truly reflect the needs, values, and personalities of their owners.

Based in Richmond, Melbourne - Dean and his network of contributors specialise in residential design and interiors that balances design sensibilities with everyday livability.

Having grown up in Melbourne, Dean possesses a deep, intuitive understanding of its diverse neighbourhoods - from the historic, bluestone-lined streets of the inner city to the leafy, established pockets of Melbourne’s suburbs. This local knowledge enables him to create spaces that are thoughtfully tailored to both their specific geographic location and the unique lifestyle preferences of Melbourne residents.

A design philosophy based in local knowledge

In a city known for its "four seasons in one day" and its eclectic mix of Victorian, Edwardian, and modern styles, architectural design must be adaptable. Dean’s approach is a seamless blend of technical design skills and extensive local knowledge. He understands how to leverage Melbourne’s unique light, navigate the complexities of local council requirements, and select materials that stand up to the local climate.

Each project is tailored to Melbourne’s changing environment; Dean ensures the result respects the area’s existing architectural character.
